As an independent candidate for President I am the only candidate with a plan to end the Iraq war. I would go to Guantanamo, put the "prisoners of war" on an airplane, and take them back where they came from. This would eliminate the problem of Americans with mental problems causing further incidents by torturing these particular foreign nationals.
Then I would order the American troops in Iraq to stand down from offensive military actions. Where would the war be?
Congress did not declare war. They gave the President "war powers", something the President as Commander in Chief does not need to defend the United States. If the President has been given power from Congress to start a war, the President can use the same powers to end a war.
American soldiers should not be sent to fight in extended military conflicts in foreign nations without a declaration of war from Congress. The Constitution gives Congress the sole power to declare war.

Jim: Hillary is a bough and paid for corporate suit- or skirt. Little BS over abortion or borders is just that. She will be the D's Nixon. We will not be out of Iraq in 2012 if she's Prez.

How anyone can believe there IS any diff between the D's and R's, after a year of do-nothingness in Congress, is mindboggling.

The specter of a Clinton-Giuliani race is a nightmare.
I'm really disgusted with the role played by many press commenters, who seem to be salivating at the orosoect,

As the race is being covered, it's not about issues at all (those are barely mentioned). It's about the fight for the sake of fighting.

I realize more every day, that we may well not elect the best candidate as best potential president. We'll probably elect the candidate who is the last to remain standing, with the blood of the battle dripping to the floor. And that blood will carry on into the presidency, with the notion of 'unity' trampled in the dust.

After 8 years of Bush will anyone believe Nader's tired old claim about Democrats and Republicans being the same? Not the people who pay attention and aren't one issue voters. No one who worries about Supreme Court decisions and how they affect our rights will believe it. For that and other reasons I don't think Nader can attract enough people to make a difference this time around.

That this is what passes for analysis says too much of what is wrong w this country. Binary thinking, and not a single idea that there can be a different choice or outcome.

Put the blame not on Mame, but on the electorate, and these none too wise media Buddhas.
