DLS - My favorite "tin hat groups" are the NewWorldOrder and Aspertame Disease crowd. Drink your wheatgrass juice in a bunker while listening to 9-11 conspiracies. They hated Clinton and Bush before the Left ever discovered BDS.

but this cannot discount libertarianism

You are right; it cannot. Ironically, the true extremism fringiness associated with libertarianism is principally and almost exclusively among the opposition it draws, not among the most fervent proponents of it.

The connection between libertarianism and racism therefore deserves to be highlighted.

The fringe of the libertarians/Libertarians is quite crazy, but this cannot discount libertarianism. Janis Karpinski is part of the fringe, yet all anyone hears is her being a victim of Abu Graib.

For a little suprise Google "Karpinski Republic Radio Network". RRN is a sortwave webstreaming network for all aspects of libertarians since 2004.

These donor stories get traction because they're revealing.

In the Clinton/Hsu case, it "revealed" that Clinton is a Chinese agent. Obviously that's deranged right-wing BS, but they hate Hillary, so they run with it.

In the Paul case, it reveals that people who argue for "liberty" and "states' rights" are arguing, among other things, for people's right to discriminate. This is common sense and obviously true when the rhetoric of the right over the past 60 years is examined.
