No, dear readers, this is NOT an Andy Borowitz news satire… It is the real thing and it comes to you from the GOP website.
What is the GOP doing to elevate the quality of debate in the campaign, to keep it on track and focused on looking at important issues? It is launching a petition drive to demand Hillary Clinton reveal the details of her library card.
On the campaign trail, Hillary Clinton consistently speaks to her level of experience; yet, she will not allow details of that experience to be reviewed by the public.
The American people deserve to know what information is being guarded in her libraries.
Tell Hillary Clinton that she can’t hide her record from the American people. Our goal is to have thousands of people sign this petition before December 31, 2007, in hopes that it will inspire Hillary to agree to share the library documents as her New Year’s resolution.
We suspect we know the details of the library cards of those who are demanding this information (even if it is a lame joke).
But it might not show all those coloring books.
I could be wrong, but I think it’s not a joke. I think ‘the library’ they are targeting is the Clinton Presidential Library, and they want documents unclassified that are notes between Hillary and Bill during their time in the White House. They are saying that these ought be available under FofIA, but aren’t. They appear to be in actuality, either not yet cataloged, or not available… or ‘elsewhere.’ They are saying that they ought be able to see these because Hillary is running for Presidential nomination; and therefore all records should be ‘open.’

Joe, I think you misread their intent. The “library card” is a gag intended for the petition signers, in order to show that they demand access to records in the Clinton Presidential Library. (Must be from the same clever people who thought up the Purple Heart Band-Aid of 2004.) What is laughable, of course, is that this demand in the name of Freedom of Information is coming from the party whose own current administration has repeatedly set new highs (lows?) in presidential secrecy and gratuitous classifying of documents.
I wonder what the reaction will be when the Bush 43 library opens and much of his “documents” aren’t available. I do believe that most Presidential papers are locked away until said President dies or gives an OK. This is much ado about nothing.
I’m sure they’re also demanding to see notes wrttten between Mr.+ Mrs. Bush!, as wll as lists of the books they’ve read!
Public record, my foot!
Simce the Clintons didn’t destroy these records or clam them to be a ‘national security’ issue, that already sets miles between the two administrations.
I would laugh, if I didn’t feel like cyingg at these shenanigans.

The regulation was 12 years after leaving office.
But the current president overrode that. About the time his father’s 12 years were up strangely enough.
Davebo voiced my thoughts perfectly. The point is who ever came up with this inane stunt, already knows that Bush would have to approve of the release of the Clinton Library papers. Bush also changed the regulation so that relatives of a president could put a hold on the release for an unlimited amount of time. Perhaps W was trying to hide his dad’s involvement in Iran-Contra during the end of the Reagan years.
At present, there is such a backlog of documents waiting to be released, that it may take another 12 years to bring them to light. (:(
Can you say Mrs. Teflon….?
S.S.D.D.. The Clinton name has already graced our house (the white house) and disgraced it with his presence.
The law should not pertain to her she was not president.
As she slipped and said she already was president
( when I’m president again) OOOP’s. Has no real thoughts and is very evasive when questioned about anything.
( I did not have sexual relations with that girl)
I would rather see Wonda Sikes as president before her.
hope I spelled her name correctly. @ least she would give a real answer.
