CNN’s Don Lemon looks at how Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Libya comments hurt his campaign — a campaign also now battered by a negative story in The Politico, lead video of his private words to fundraisers dissing 47% of Americans and an unsteady

performance at a press conference to explain the leaked video comments:

I wonder who at CNN would be the right person to present this? The segment is called No Talking Points. Did Mr. Lemon give talking points rather than facts? Did he misrepresent the candidate’s actions by selective editing?

We’ve all seen the full original statements and the next day press conference. There is precious little light between those actions and Mr. Lemon’s observations as far as I can see. Sometimes even biased persons can stumble upon the truth. Maybe this was one of them?

I didn’t see the whole interview with the Romney surrogate who asked to be on the show (asked to be on, not invited, according to Mr. Lemon) so I don’t know how much he was interrupted or how much he was badgered. I doubt Mr. Lemon’s questions were silly, but I don’t doubt the surrogate thought they were.

Which anchor would you have selected? When even FOX anchors have a problem with Romney’s statements, I am confused as to how any CNN anchor worth their salt would not have questioned the surrogate pointedly and been unwilling to just accept talking points. Lord knows there’s too much of that going on anyway – the press needs to be much more emphatic in their questioning of both candidates – and their surrogates.

It seems that the Republicans criticizing Don Lemon here are being a tad hypocritical as they were willing to give him a pass last week when, as reported on TMV, he did pretty much the same with Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

What hypocrisy you ask… Here’s the link… You tell me: Don Lemon’s Lively Interview with Wasserman Schultz
