Anybody who lives in or visits St. Louis should go to next-door Alton, Illinois (across the cable-stayed bridge) to visit the life-sized statue of the tallest person who ever lived, Robert Wadlow. Local residents often enjoy visits by tall people (6-8, 6-10) who look up and marvel at how tall Wadlow was.

The site where the statue is now includes a replica of the Wadlow-sized chair that had been made for him, so visitors can also sit in that chair and feel very small.

For those who appreciate the etymology: Wadlow <a href="http://www.altonmuseum.com/html/robert_wadlow.html" rel="nofollow">puts the "Alt" in "Alton."</a>
