Protecting Small Town Businesses is for Chumps

To really prove your conservative, anti-immigration bona fides, you can’t just drive out restaurants that cater to Latino immigrants — you got to brag about the ensuing downturn in business.

  1. By the same “logic”, we shouldn’t interdict drugs lest it harms those who profit from selling powerboats for cash.

Cheer up though: this site now has Robert Stein, and he’s even worse at this.

  2. Well, technically, parallel structure for the drug war would require the head of the DEA to promote some ridiculously draconian new drug policy (which already strains the imagination — I have trouble thinking of more insane policies than what we have now. Maybe just profiling anyone who wears dreadlocks? But at least that’d be predictable) by flying down to Florida and saying “the policy is working — powerboat sales are down in Miami by 75%!”

And, yeah, I’d find that a bit odd.

So, the sheriff made some people move to another town or another state. He got to paly the hero, while that other location will have the problem.

Just posturing, and rhetoric, rhetoric and posturing.

Maybe the mayor is taking the longer term view. If the town of Hazelton does not take action concerning illegal aliens now, then in a few years, the city would be like Mananssas Park, Virginia where no one except illegal aliens and their U.S. born children want to live and everyone else has to move out.

The point is, it has the right and even the duty to take such action; immigration laws should be enforced throughout the USA, enforcement which in no way is “hateful,” “xenophobic,” or any of the other standard lies (or basis for other lies and other false statements, such as we already have seen here). Change the laws themselves if you don’t like them. (The real way, through the legislative process, not by misuse of and abuse by the judiciary.)
