GWB will not put forth a “better” nominee than Judge Mukasey

This has to be the stupidest reason you've cited. If David Duke were the best we could hope for from GWB would you be applauding Feinstein and Schumer for their courage?

I assume you've got some standard below which you'd object.

I think we should demand an Attorney General who believes the president is subject to the laws of the land and who won't play cute games with the definition of torture.

Shouldn't the Democrats, at some point, stand up to the administration's blatant illegality? Who would have ever thought that our Congress would be confirming a man for the top law post that believes that the President has the right to indefinitely detain a person without charging them with a crime? Who would have thought we'd be confirming a man that can't say whether or not a method of torture is illegal?

As for profiles in courage... Schumer is voting for him because of the system of NY patronage. How courageous of him. Who knows why Feinstein is voting for him, but maybe it has to do with her ties to large defense contractors.

The reasoning is sound, but it's a sad day for the US
nevertheless.

It's a sad day when the nations's AG-to be can't say what he thinks about waterboarding.
It's a sad day when our heroes are people who had to settle for a questionable choice instead of a good choice.

I accept, but I do not celebtate.
