But those Great Lakes are evaporating as less winter ice cover throws off the balance between evaporation and renewal by precipitation.

I doubt that anything is more important to our future than improved methods of industrial level 24/7 desalination and water distribution.

I have yet to hear the talking heads use such a nebulous term.

Aside from this being a plain, easy-to-understand issue (which will become worse with future southeastern as well as southwestern population growth), it’s old news to some of us. It was bigger news (and not distorted into Bush-bashing) last week.

20+ years from now, those Great Lakes will look more tempting than ever.
