Ted Kennedy Eviscerates Mitt Romney in DNC Tribute, Reince Priebus Calls Democrats ‘Classless’
The Democratic convention is off to a good start and I must say I loved the tribute to Ted Kennedy in which he eviscerated Mitt Romney (the perpetual candidate for office) about his flip-flopping on health care. This speaks volumes — Ted Kennedy slammed him back in 1994 for his history of flip-flopping and fast forward to 2012, we are still dealing with Mitt Romney’s flip-flops. This tribute to Ted Kennedy with his famous take-down of Mitt Romney was brilliant and priceless.
What’s equally interesting is RNC chief’s Reince Priebus’ reaction to the smackdown of Mitt Romney by Ted Kennedy saying it was ‘classless.’ Funny he should bring up the word classless, which Mitt Romney’s sidekick Paul Ryan seems to embody with his history of outright lies and half-truths. Wasn’t it classless of Mitt Romney to smear Obama on welfare reform or even on the ‘you didn’t build that’ remark? Here’s Reince Priebus’ tweet:
Classless Dems use tribute video of deceased Ted Kennedy to attack Mitt Romney.

Here’s the DNC tribute video which includes Ted Kennedy’s smack-down of Mitt Romney:

What else could he have said?
He’d'a looked kind of foolish saying, “Well, that’s right… Well, that’s right… Well, that’s right… Well, that’s right…” And he had to say something.
Wow!!! What a powerful… positive… optimistic looking to a convention. They’re coming out the gate delivering facts as to where we were four years ago and just how much OUR President has done.
Wow!!! What a powerful… positive… optimistic looking START to a convention.
So far I’m loving the convention. Loved Deval Patrick and then O’Malley, though I feel sorry for O’Malley because Patrick is an impossible act to follow. About to watch San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro. I’d love to see what else the Republicans launch at the Democratic Party. None of the Democratic speakers seem to be twisting the words of Republicans, like the Republicans did in Tampa to Obama.
I agree with SteveK…. what else could Reince Priebus have said? The Democratic Party (and Romney) spoke the truth and the truth about Romney’s policies is what the Republicans want to keep under wraps.
So I’ve sworn not to watch the DNC ( in fairness, I refused to watch the RNC), but this sounds like a major WTF? Dredging up a dead guy? Sounds pretty crass from here.
Hate to say it Barky but your comment sounds like something taught in “Republican Logic 101″.
I didn’t see it, don’t want to see it, wouldn’t see it if I could but it sounds bad and I don’t like it. It’s wrong but there’s no reason my ignorance should stand in the way of my being critical of something I haven’t seen.
I’d offer comments about the speakers so far but it would be rather pointless so I’ll save us a bunch of back and forth posts
Barky, I can understand if you don’t want to watch the speech. The video was meant as a tribute to Ted Kennedy. The video had clips from Ted’s speeches, which is what you’d expect in any tribute. The brilliance behind this video was some of the clips were of a debate between Ted and Romney when Romney and Ted were opponents for the US Senate seat. The video was very effective at showing Ted’s values as well as Romney’s. I don’t think the video was classless or crass at all. I think it would be crass if the Dems had dredged up a video of some dead REPUBLICAN and showed his viewpoints to discredit the GOP today. But they didn’t do that.
This is a political convention, the video didn’t twist anything Romney had said, Romney is very much alive and can respond to the points made in the video if he feels unfairly represented.
What IS crass and VILE is Romney supporting the birthers and racist elements in his party, groups which seek to divide America based on false notions and skin color, for his own benefit.
“Republican Logic 110? seems to be that when ‘THEY’ (Democrats) are doing what “YOU” (Republicans) wish you had done… Don’t say a word, let Carl Rove and Rush Limbaugh speak for you.
Ergo, the Republicans are not only going to lose their bid for the White House (hell, half the Republicans don’t like Romney before tonight) they’re going to lose the lower house have a filibuster proof Senate, too.
Good job GOP… My grandchildren are in your debt.
Thank you StockBoyLA… Was Michelle good or what?
In my opinion she was “what.” “What” being she hit it out of the park. What a Lady!!
Leave it to the Republicans to be classy. [sigh}
DNC Glorifies Senator Who Left a Woman to Drown in His Car
FWIW - I'm no longer going to refer to promoters of the "Republican Party"... "Conservatives"... right leaning "Independents" [sic]… or any of their partisan promoters or apologists as ‘nutters’ or ‘wing-nuts’.
From here on out they’re simply “Republicans”… Live with it.
Forgot the smile…
Hey Dorian, I think you’re right. (pun intended)
Here’s the best twitter I’ve seen (and I don’t tweet):
The last thing that Senator Kennedy said: ” I have never shy for being called a liberal… But what i have done is stand up for what i believe.” Sounds like the theme for the convention…
No shame in being what one is….unlike Ryan that is reported to of cooked great tasting minute rice in 23 seconds….
What else could Reince Priebus have said? He could have have and should have said nothing at all.
This video was powerful. And what Mr. Priebus did was call more attention to it by tweeting about it.
Strange things about tweets and videos in this day and age. They can make ya or break ya.
Ted Kennedy was a womanizing drunk. Say what you will about Romney’s flip flopping and how he made his money. When he left the office he went home to his wife and kids. The Democrats have much better people to bring forward to “eviscerate” Romney.
I think what Priebus meant to say was “timeless”. Lol, what is true in 1994 about Romney is just as accurate today. What they really need to do is go back and get some of Herbert Hoover’s talking points about deregulation and how we need to make life easier on the rich to bolster the economy. I’m pretty sure most republicans today would probably say “who is this Hoover guy and why isn’t he on my ballot?”.
Isn’t it funny how some folks from the right will create a one-shot handle on TMV to drop some hyperbole and run?
SteveK, you’re welcome.
By the way… I’ve been meaning to tell you.. not sure which post to put this on but now is as good a time as ever…. thanks for all your graphs on the various articles. Much appreciated and a picture (graph) is worth a thousand words!
Jimmy, Ted Kennedy go things done, laws passed that helped the poor and “not-politically-connected” people. Romney increased his fortune by laying off Americans and putting his money in countries other than the US. Ted Kennedy believes (as does Obama) in America and Americans. Romney believes in the Caymans, Switzerland (and other places). Ted never used American money to create jobs overseas. Romney does.
Yes, Michelle was AWESOME. One thing I like about the Dems is that they try to bring the country together. Republicans love to promote the “us versus them” theme, using fear to rally their troops.
