There might have been a bigger, better breather had helicopters that could have been used earlier for firefighting work not been grounded due to the rules in California for such work. C-130s were unavailable, too. Meanwhile, leave it to Dodd to be the first to make political mush out of this. (Let's hear it from the peanut gallery: what I just posted was "hate"!)

In other words: given the extreme nature of weather and natural disasters these days, the real tests may be down the road.

That is so true, and so terrifying. Kudos to all involved in this one, they are doing a “heckuva job’, lol But seriously the amount of damage boggles the mind. How many mega disasters -9/11, Katrina, the California fires can we recover from and still stay as strong a nation as we’ve traditionally been?

Any word on who the arsonists are? Stay safe and I’ll say a prayer for no winds and a humongous rainstorm for SoCal.

The caution about not becoming complacent about the response is very apt, IMO.

For the sake of the future, I hope they catch the arsonist(s). That kind of hing always takes a long time, but time is not as important as catchimg
them eventually.
