That other Senator from Connecticut is finally starting to gain some traction in his Presidential campaign. And he’s doing it the old-fashioned way: taking gutsy (but correct) positions, at the right time, for the right reasons.
Dodd may not ultimately have the star power to win the nomination. But at the moment, he’s pushing Democratic candidates (and the political debate as a whole) in the right direction, and for that alone he deserves accolades.
Dodd probably is and has all along been angling for the Vice Presidency. If his deplorable conduct after the 1994 elections is any guide (“extree-mist” and other demagoguery) and he can willingly take orders from Clinton, and put a grandfatherly face on her more ambitious leftist moves after the election to fool more gullible people (who will have put them in office, anyway), he’s her man.
He won’t have a choice with Boss Hillary. She will run things like a football team: rough, gruff, and dictator-like.
Dodd is a good senator and would make a fine president. I’m not prepared to say now that he’s my first choice, but I will say that if he were to win it, on his worst day he’d be a Godsend improvement over what we’ve been stuck with the past seven years.
I agree with SW Anderson. We could do a lot worse, especially when you look at who’s in the Oval Office now. I would have no qualms about voting for Sen Dodd.
