I was flipping channels one night and came across Beck’s CNN show. At that time had never even heard of Beck. Then he started his rant on global warming. From then on I couldn’t care less if I never heard him or heard of him again.

The suggestion that the Beck comments are worthy of a search for context is either exceedingly generous, or exceedingly humorous. Strikes me as akin to trying to contexualize someone who is throwing rocks at cars.

This post is on par with the MMFA link, and that is not in any way a compliment. Obviously, Beck was refering to Hollywood lefties living in Malibu and not those living in San Diego. Obviously, the Victorian ladies at MMFA aren’t going to even try to contextualize his comments, but that doesn’t mean that this site should stoop as far down as it can to get on their level.

The usefulness of this Glenn Beck commentary strikes me as fairly consistent with most of the rightwing talk radio I’ve heard over the past few years. I tend to worry more about the folks who eat it up though, than I do about the few deranged individuals who spout it.

As for Glenn Beck, I think his motivations are to be a blowhard / controversial so he can generate revenue for Clear Channel.
