"the love of America is at least as widespread and deeply-rooted around the world as anti-Americanism. "
........is such a broad, overreaching statement that it can barely be understood.

Let's not confuse an interest in or fascination by with love. It's pop culture exports are as much hated as loved, and the admiration caused by its business know-how is being dispersed among other nations, most notably China. Its edge in innovative technology has new rivals, as well.

At any rate, love has little to do with it. A prominent feature, I would say is envy, which gives rise to resentment and a wish to knock the super power down to eye level or lower.

So, yes, the world has changed and the clock can't be turned back.
The Clintons, having graduated from kindergarden, know this full well, I think.
The Democrats' popularity abroad, however, can give the US a chance to reach the first rung on the road to recovery. A recovery of meaningful magnitude is a long-term project, a very long term project. No one should have illusions about that.

No one should have any illusions about returning to the way things were, either, no matter which party is in power.

Should she make it, President Hillary Clinton and First Gentleman Bill will find that American power under the first President Clinton was far greater than it will ever be again.”

Bullshit. This is wishful thinking on the part of Europeans, who are projecting their own weakness and irrelevance onto America.

This mix of progressive mainstream impulses and hawk-like logic can be seen in her foreign policy. Yes to multilateralism and serious peace talks on Palestine; Yes to bombing attacks against Iran to deny it The Bomb. Take five-tenths cooperative-thinking à la démocrate, add five-tenths of patriotism à la républicaine - and the batter for the next election is ready to bake.

Europe hasn't and obviously will never learn from its own past of appeasing evil.
