I don’t think he actually believes in Intelligent Design, just that he doesn’t oppose it being taught in public schools. That’s a typical GOP pandering position (even McCain endorses it).

Jindal is an interesting figure. Not only is he the son of Indian immigrants, but he’s also only 36 years old and facing the most corrupt and broken state in the country. Though I’m a Democrat and I disagree with Jindal on most policy positions, I can only wish him the best. Louisiana desperately needs help, and the existing political class (both parties) are utterly incapable of fixing the place. Jindal is new to politics and doesn’t have ties to either the Dixiecrat-cum-Republicans (think David Vitter) or the Cajun Democratic machine. Should be interesting, but I’m pushing for him and the state of Louisiana.

His personal history is interesting.
Otherwise, he seems to be a regular vote-the-party-line Republican.

I’d be very pleased to see an American Indian rise to power, BTW.
