I wish I could take slices from a number of candidates and put them together to make the ideal president.
I would take the ‘anit-pork’ slice from McCan as well as his willingness to compromise (immigation).
Two slices don’t make a whole pizza, however.

I don’t really think that will be an issue in the general election. What does Clinton have to do with the Obama campaign?

Pete, have you read Matt Welch’s book on McClain “The Myth of a Maverick”?

I haven’t finished it yet but it’s a real eye opener.

And frankly, I’m more concerned about electing another idiot than another ego. McCain graduated 894th out of a Naval Academy class of 899.

As a veteran of naval aviation I’m predisposed to support him but even I can’t bring myself to do so.

I agree we don’t need any more over-sized ego’s in the WH. But I’m not convinced McCain’s an egomaniac; he strikes me as reasonably principled, and his voting record in the Senate has been relatively clear, consistent, anti-pork, etc. Again, I could be wrong.

I meant “types.” The government since Bush I has been run by egomanaics who are empty suits and have no core beliefs other than their own ego. Isn’t it time to stop and find a candidate who actually believes in something than expanding their own ego?

You should look at the straw vote for the social conservatives. They absolutely detest McCain.

Also, in a general election how soon would some report look up his first wife or find the strip clubs he used to go to?

If you really believe that McCain can be the next president, then you need to put down the crack pipe and step away from the computer. There is not group in the U.S. who really wants McCain as president. He has demonstrated no leadership ability, he has limited grasp of the issues, he is a bully, and he has no core beliefs. He is the last thing the U.S. needs in charge. He have had those tupes for the last twenty years and now most people detest the government (but love government spending on them).
