Following Romney Down A Tea Party Rabbit Hole

Aug 17, 2012 by

So there I was, chasing this Romney rabbit, trying to figure out what it was, exactly, and what it really had in mind for my future. When it suddenly ducked down a rabbit hole. And when I approached that hole I fell in.

Now I’m looking around here and can’t seem to figure the place out. I mean, it’s a very, very strange place. Not at all like the world outside.

Like with the Romney rabbit’s taxes. He says he paid about 13 percent a year in the last decade but won’t show his returns to prove it. Can anyone running for public office say anything the public might want to know about and be believed without offering backup? How very strange.

And if a guy whose net worth has been reported to be about $270 million, who makes millions more every year, pay only 13 percent in taxes, and think this is something non-multi millionaires who pay much more in taxes will think is meritorious? Stranger and stranger.

And the big debate now about Medicare. If I understand Rabbit Romney, he’s saying Democrats want to trash Medicare while he is seeking to protect it. That Republicans are actually protectors of a social program that evil Democrats aim to gut. Who knew such a thing in the world outside a rabbit hole?

But wait! The longer I stay here on the other side of the mirror, the more things look different. I’m starting to believe that cruelty is actually tough love. That helping the poor and needy just promotes dependency and without such help they would all be just fine and help themselves. That pumping up the rich still more automatically helps us all because rich people’s wealth all trickles down to others.

Up is down. In is out. Black is white. Sheldon Adelson is really Mother Theresa with a bad hair dye job.

Pass me another one of those little bottles, mama, I wanna see where my head goes next.

I dont think there is anything confusing about Reps now claiming that Dems want to gut Medicare… it is pure Rovian. I would not be shocked to find that Karl himself called in the tactic… even though I believe that would be a violation of his SuperPac. I am sure he would never break the law.

Ever notice that the Cheshire Cat looks a lot like Rove?
And, who wouldn’t mistake Biden for the Mad Hatter.

It is a very different perspective in that rabbit hole. One where facts matter little, history matters less, and Ayn Rand is the Queen of Hearts.

I’d say that pretty well explains the pesistence of 21st century republicans.

Has Romney stated of it is 13% of gross or 13% of taxable income…

In this ‘rabbit hole’ it could be 13 cents on one dollar?…

If a prospective president is not willing to be transparent about taxes what confidence or trust can the American have at any level, if he were to win?
