Yes, Some Frequent Flyers ARE More Equal Than Others

holdNoseThumbsDown.gif

If you’re Republican AND Democratic members of Congress, you can actually write the law to make sure you don’t get bumped and you make your flight. Because you’re special.

If you’re one of us peons who don’t serve in Congress, you could miss your flight and perhaps, due to a series of circumstances, even wind up dead.

Read the details about the contrast HERE.

    This is outrageous!

Nothing in the modern world so illustrates the growing divide between our “Lords and Masters” and “us peons” as flying.

This is a global phenomenon…as anyone who has passed through that circle of hell known as Heathrow, and lost their luggage (ten people per flight this summer past)…can attest.

The only thing I don’t understand is why there is not greater public rage over this issue…given how many people fly today. Perhaps the strangely routine appearance of police with machine guns at airports today – once a European phenomenon of the 1980s that has extended to North America today – has something to do with it.

I eagerly await MoveOn’s and Rush Limbaugh’s protests of outrage over this Congressional action!

There are two problems that most people do not want to discuss.

The first one is that no one organization owns the process of flying. quasi-governmental organizations operate the airports but contract out things like parking, concessions, and shuttles. The government runs security but does not want to be responsible for the queues leading up to the checkpoints. The airlines provide the plains and the checkin but usually do not operate the luggage claim service. It is impossible for the Airline to provide a quality product because of all of the other organizations that a flyer interacts with before checking in or boarding the plain.

The second problem is the internet marketing of cheap tickets. When people buy tickets strictly based upon price, they get what they pay for. The airlines know that people make their decisions based strictly on price and purchase off the internet. Discount tickets leave people at the mercy of the airlines who would rather give seats to corporate flyers who paid more and have the guaranteed seats.

    Okay, so flying is hell.
Sustaining privilege by using tax dolloars is far worse.
I, somehow, believe that if flying problems were removed, our Congreespeiople would find new privilegas and luxuries they need us to finance

Maybe I shouldn’t complain. At least the parties are united on this.
