Thanks for the link, and bravo for doing this work.

I agree completely that the process has to on-going, In a sense, it's always playing catch up.

Text of Fair Elections Now Act Apparently the use of personal funds is restricted to keep the playing field level.

The process of perfecting democracy is ongoing. As is reducing the influence of special interests. Greedy, selfish influence will always find a way in and plugging those holes is a perpetual chore. We always need to look for the next incremental improvement rather than capitulate to cynicism. When we give up the world begins to move backwards.

I prefer to spend my time and money on perfecting the process of government rather than focusing on the sensation and issue of the day. The more objective and open minded our representatives the better quality are their decisions.

Imagine a Congress with little bias towards the military industrial complex, or oil industry, or financial industry, or teachers unions...

At these kinds of laws are meant to do is to make it easier for the staffers at ommon Cause, Democracy Matters, Public Campaign, Public Citizen, and U. S. PIRG to run for office in the future. It will be very easy for liberal NGO activist to generate the signatures to get on the ballot and get the free government money. In addition, the man hour donations of such organization will not count as money.

Of course, as the U.S. heads toward being a one party state, any campaign financing reform will do little.

I support this initiative wholeheartedly.

I have one question: How does this apply, or not apply, to a candidate's own personal funds?
Would a condidate be able to use unlimited amounts of his/her own money?
