As the Republican party becomes irrelvant to the American political system, the netroot types are going to have to get use to having the religious conservatives, free market libertarians, and country club types voting in the Democratic primaries.

Like I have said before, no one wants to take the collapse of the Republican Party to its naturual conclusion. Do you really think that anyone interested in politics or wanting to affect the government can really afford to stay with a political party that has zero influence on the political system. The government is too large, too pervasive, and too powerful for any group to be wiling to stay with a party is is irrelevant.

My guess is that next push is to make all of the Democratic Primaries closed and to limit the power of the non-traditional Democratic groups. If the netroots do not starting taking steps now to limit the power of more moderate groups, they could be the ones who become irrelevant.

If that's the way she feels about immigrants, the GOP seems like a better fit for her, on this issue, at least..

Maybe she should reconsider and make things easy on everyone.

I mean, I specifically said that I wasn't advocating not welcoming her because of her anti-immigrant stance (though I disagree with her on that, to be sure). I was against her because she tried to argue that a group of 10 year olds were the "next generation of terrorists", or would become so if we were so foolish as to grant them healthcare. That's rabid extremism, not just run-of-the-mill "tighten the borders".

So, if you're not going to read the post, don't bother to comment.

Why can't a moderate Democrat be against open borders and unlimited immigration? I thought the Democrats were the big tent party.

I wonder if you have written the same thing is Rep. Stafford had been black? I seriously doubt it because the Democratic Party consistently tolerates the xenophobia of African-Americans.
