Thank you for honoring that monks brutal death.
I think we should view this picture (all of them) over and over in differing lights with the same level of illumination and acumen.
You are correct that this was no casual execution.
I notice that there is no blood in the water., anywhere around the bodies.

This brutal rage was meant to be seen by others.

We may or may not survive what we fail to see, but what we refuse to see will kill us every time.

Another thank-you for not being afraid to show this terrible image and talk about it, and for your other reporting on the inhuman atrocities that have gone on in Burma. Anyone who doubts there is true evil in the world need only learn a little about what has gone on there.

I did see the bruising the first time that I saw this photograph and recognised the physical abuse and hatred that must have been directed at this man and felt ashamed for not knowing how to respond.
