The US is, IMO, focused on Iran first and foremost, and is willing to risk a great deal in order to undercut its indluence in Iraq and the region. By now, we are in such a maze of forces and counterforces, I feel like I'm watching cars barreling down on each toher at full speed. There will most likely be a crash, but I have no idea who will be able to walk away still breathing. 'Barbaeix Ameican overreation' is to be taken with several grains of salt. The whole country is a jungle of barabaric overreactions, and if you;re in the midst of it, the demarcation for 'excessive' is not so easy to locate.
