Ignored Victims, and Perpetrators, of Rape

Aug 6, 2012 by

An amazing, and rare, BBC report that should be listened to in its entirety. It’s about events in Congo, although many (including this writer) feel it reflects on attitudes we have here in this part of the world.

*Update*: This should also be read.

*Update 2*: And this!

This is partly in response to an earlier article and video that generated interesting discussion here at The Moderate Voice.

After listening to this also wondered if this could be part of our own military culture… recently there has been the case in Texas of the trainer and his abuse of women…

Does this also occur to men in our military?

  3. Thanks Sparrow, I’ll add both links!

(One was already on GWW’s original video BTW, it’s part of what she was refereincing.)

The Daily Beast piece is particularly interesting, though still no exploration of female perps. We seem to have a real cultural blind spot on that, one that’s so fierce I sometimes have to wonder if it isn’t genetic or something.
