When Love Trumps Job: Ed Schultz Leaves Shows to Care for Ailing Wife (AUDIO of Announcement)
Radio and cable progressive talker Ed Schultz vanished from the airwaves and he went on his show to explain why. And at times it was tough: his wife has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and he plans to be off the air “for a while” since his focus is his wife, who has also worked with him on his show all these years.

I hope Ed’s wife will recover and he’s doing the right thing to be with her and his family. Ovarian cancer is one of the most deadly cancers and they will need all the help and prayers they can get. God bless.
I rarely agree with Ed but I wish nothing but the best for him, his wife and his family.
May she recover soon so he can return to MSNBC and I can once again have my blood pressure spiked.
Ed Shultz (wont name contrasting men who abandoned their wives during their wife’s illnesses) is right to put aside much to be there for his wife in a time of challenge. It’s hard on everyone in a different way, but for many having your family be positive and ‘with you’ is a powerful medicine too.
Ovarian cancer, is a deeply serious challenge and it used to kill women out of hand. Nowadays, there are often many chances to not just survive but to thrive, but depending on several factors that only the patient, doctor and her family can know.
We’ll keep the family and all families who walk this walk, in prayer for best possible outcome.
I’ll add my wishes here for a speedy recovery for Ed’s wife. Good for him for putting his family first unlike so many in public life
My sister-in-law had this disease diagnosed early due to complications of another sort. She is still here (knock on wood). It is a really scary thing to have to face. My best wishes for Ed, his wife and their family.
