I hope ideas about how to deal with redristricting take root and flower into action
Term limits for judges is also a laudable proposal.

The topic of how to end a war is extremely complicated and need to evolve through debate.

All in all, a very challenging and inspiring look at our democracy.

What a fascinating topic! This is my first encounter with Dr. Sabato’s work, and I very much appreciate the interview.

One thing it has me wondering, however, is how much of the civics education proposed towards the end would be mandatory (“lock in,” “mandate,” “have to” were all used) and in what way?

Would such a proposal not invite criticisms of “elitism” (the thing which it seems to be proposed as a counter to) in that it has a “More Educated Than Thou” tone? (“I know what’s best for you to learn about how government should work.”)

I’ve never been able to figure out where the desire to help people grow intellectually ends, and condescension begins. As teachers, we want the former, not the latter.
