Will Pennsylvania go for Romney or Obama this fall? #2

Jul 19, 2012 by

From today’s Philadelphia Inquirer – a quote from the ACLU about PA Voter ID:

“The best antidote to voter suspicion would be for the commonwealth to publicly acknowledge what it has confessed . . . namely, that in-person voter fraud is nonexistent in Pennsylvania,” wrote lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union’s state branch along with…

… The groups noted that the law was passed earlier this year by the legislature along party lines – Republicans for, Democrats against – and that last month, state House Majority Leader Mike Turzai had told a meeting of fellow Republicans the law would help GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney win Pennsylvania on Nov. 6.

“The only fair inference is that the real purpose of the Photo ID Law is not ensuring the integrity of the electoral process, but ensuring political advantage through the exclusion of qualified voters who are perceived supporters of the opposition,” the attorneys wrote.”

Ooh, that House Majority Leader Mike Turzai let the cat out of the bag. So unless the judges are of the same stripe, I can’t see how they could not overturn this politically motivated unfair law that will disenfranchise about a million voters over a very red herring.

I think the PA GOP have already stated that as a result of their anti voter fraud laws they feel pretty confident the state will go for Romney. Let’s hear it for ruthless political calculations masquerading as protecting the public! I mean, you kinda had me there for awhile with the possibility this was addressing an issue, sorta, until you basically came out and admitted the purpose of it. I really hope other voters noticed. I mean, I live in CA, so my vote for president is already worthless as we know who CA is going for. But you folks in PA really need to pay attention because you actually have an impact on the presidential race.

The GOP doesn’t care about integrity, it’s a meaningless concept to them. They DO care about power – by any means possible.
