They’re right, even if that doesn’t get very far with the ignorant, who actually believe this is all about The Children! [tm]. This bill expands the scope of the program to offer subsidized insurance to a much larger group than before (with the raising of income limits), people who in many cases are already insured, but privately (something that the Democrats in Congress as well as others want to see “corrected”).

I think ‘08 is going to be an even worse year for Republicans than ‘06 was.

Are you confident or over-confident? (Hillary Clinton repels vast numbers of Americans, for example, and many will hold their noses and vote for the poor GOP candidate as a result.) Only time will tell if what you see now is too good to be true.

The GOP in Congress? They largely act little more than like Democrats right now (a source of much dissatisfaction earlier and a major cause of the 2006 election results).

A lot of it depends on how strongly people continue to value and view entitlements.

Look for this to become a huge issue in 2008 — even more so if the news media does what are called “plight stories.”

Newspapers and broadcast outlets love to do human interest stories as a “hook” to illustrate a larger problem or issue.

No surpise there, exploiting not only the sense of entitlement but the emotionalism rather than reason found on the Left so often.

There is no “right” to health care and a more mature attitude needs to be taken toward any government health care proposal in place of demanding an entitlement and mindlessly stampeding to the sound of the word “more” or arrogantly expecting a ratchet that permits growth of government entitlements but never a reduction.

We already know how the media will portray Bush Versus the Children. (Cue to Hillary and another appeal to the overgrown children…)

How can we lead the world if we refuse to try to face the major problems we have with global warming,immigration and health care. Relying on the private sector to do something has created the situation we have now.
