Maybe someone can help me understand something here…
The GOP is beside themselves because – through incompetence or malfeasance – the feds allowed a gun to be sold to a drug cartel, and that gun was eventually used to kill a Border Patrol agent.
Now they’re trying to saddle anyone even remotely associated with the sale of that gun – up to and including the Attorney General and the President – with the responsibility for that murder.
Yet isn’t it the GOP (and their ready allies in the NRA) who keep telling us that “guns don’t kill people, people kill people?”
Aren’t they the very same people who tell us we cannot possibly hold gun manufacturers, gun distributors, or gun show merchants responsible for what people choose to do with the guns they buy?
If we are to take their rhetoric (at least prior to Fast & Furious) at face value, then the people who sold the gun to the people who sold the gun to the drug dealer who killed the agent cannot be held accountable for the crime.
