Yeah, we all need more taxes: In Addition to These we All Pay
Tax, tax and more tax, when is enough, enough…
Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he’s fed.
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.
Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.
Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.
Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.
Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his a–.
Tax his church
Tax his pew
Tax his prayer
Tax his sou
Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won’t be done
Till he has no dough.
When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He’s good and sore.
Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he’s laid.
Put these words
Upon his tomb,
‘Taxes drove me
to my doom…’
When he’s gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

In Colorado, Denver, everyone also pays a property tax on business equip every year. Way to go to encourage slow, outdated, broken and never replaced equipment.

Off the top of my head, I’d say the Tea Party, but it’s been in my email before they were even spawned, I think. All I know is I’ve received it from several people. I always reply with this.

Ohio, that link makes my head go red. Unbelievable. Only, it IS believable, sadly.
Dr. E.
Me, too. I never hear back so maybe their head is red, also – if they even read it.
Fun poem, but a little one-sided. Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized and fair society, one that believes education, infrastructure and protection are deserved by everyone. Of course there are others who wouldn’t mind an out and out feudal system and there are many who would be at the bottom of a feudal system but would support it anyway. Ignorance is not bliss.

The current version was adapted from a very old poem years and years ago. (link above)
So for all those that want to blame the Tea Party. sorry guys, not this time. They may have updated it, but the original that started the Tax Poem was before many of our lives started.
thanks RP, appreciate your sleuthing.
Agree 100% with Zephyr. Not sure why the left routinely gets a socialism tag when we currently have historically low income tax rates, and so many tax cuts have been passed to benefit small businesses and the middle class.
Sadly, the far right no longer wants to invest in the next generation or fix our public schools, environment, healthcare woes or crumbling infrastructure. To me it is a failure of leadership, because all of these problems will build up and permanently change our quality of life
Ohioan, that is a pretty damning link. Just goes to show that corporate contributions have had a direct impact to their own bottom line. This used to be known as bribery I believe. Paying off politicians for political favors that will make you money. Now that bribery is a legally protected right for corporate “people”, and even their identities are shielded from exposure with the new rules. With anonymous donations there isn’t even a paper trail to follow to connect the dots.
At what point will people actually lash back at the clowns in office for this outrageous and blatant abuse of power? At what point will a GOP candidate preach about how we need to lower taxes on corporations and the upper classes and be laughed off stage for spitting the face of the working class people that make up the majority of their constituency?
