Of course Olbermann is a drama queen, a nuanced analytical look at current events doesn’t get radio or cable viewers. His nemisis (Billo) is also guilty of the same exaggerations and hyperbole. Hannity and Rush Limpbaugh incite the viewers, Charlie Rose and the old Bill Buckley shows informed and challenge the viewer to think. Besides KO is one of the few Liberals doing his own talk show.

Gives Ed Schultz some time to build up a larger radio audience, then maybe he can replace Glenn Beck.

Yes, he is a drama queen.

Is someone surprised to find a drama queen gabbing away on TV?

Au contraire, if all the drama queens were gathered in a oom, one would have a hard time picking out one’s favorite among the crowd.

Drama aside, I am glad there is someone on TV screeching for an end to this nation-building castastrophe. It.Won’t.Work. 1 more year? 5 more years? 20 more years? Are my grandkids going to get a turn in Iraq? The people in Iraq resisting the foreign occupier for the most part are not going anywhere. At this point we are only sustaining this to make war profiteers a little richer before the people finally elect a president and a congress who will end this fiasco.

Agree with Rudi. None of the guys on cable news including Beck, Olbermann, Bill’o or Tucker play it straight- they all go over the top for ratings. Its the name of the game. Cable news is getting almost as incendiary as talk radio.

If you want straight journalism watch Charlie Gibson.

That said I’m glad Keith is on, speaking out against this unnecessary and disasterous war, instead of playing cheerleader for Bush.

  5. skippy says:

with all due respect, being a drama queen that actually backs up his rants with examples beats a blogger who simply links to others and says, “i agree.”

    Kim and Rudi,
What you don’t address is why viewers who hated Rush, Hannity and Bill O’Reilly like a guy who does the same but from a lefty angle. I’ll answer that for you: because it’s not really the hyperbole and vitriole that they don’t like, it’s that those right wing talk show hosts were successfully criticizing their side. If people truly thought that right wing talk radio and Fox opinion shows were in bad form, they wouldn’t embrace the left wing versions of it.

  8. kritter says:

Wow- Nice try, CS. If guys like Rush, Bill’o and Sean are successful, its because of a willingness to believe half-truths and smears on the part of their audience. There was actually a university study on O Reilly’s accuracy, and he fell quite short of the goal of truth telling.

Keith may be over the top, and extremely opinionated, but I don’t see where he has been wrong factually. The difference is willingness to present a credible point of view- vs presenting half truths and known falsehoods.

  9. corvus says:

    Nice Post Kritter!

The folks who put forth questions about bill, rush or hannity NEVER address the half truth and lies these commentators help spread.

  10. C Stanley says:

Olbermann rarely deals with facts at all, just hyperbolic BDS opinions. What’s to dispute, if someone rants and there’s little fact even being discussed?
