Economics and law tend to be far less glamorous fields. Stein writes economics articles all the time, and he did his undergraduate work in economics. He graduated first in his class in law school at Yale. He has worked for the Nixon administration, taught in law school, been a trial lawyer, etc. Does that make him infallible? No. Does it make him someone who has some interesting stuff to say on politics and policy on occasion? Yes. I really like him for the articles he writes on stocks. On the rare occasion that he says something about specific stocks or ETFs, he is typically dead on. Well, he is most famous for being on television. I mean, eye drop commercials make one wise? The few pages I've skimmed in bookstores reveals that he's no Bill Buckley as a thinker. Can someone explain why anyone would listen to him?
