Actually Elrod is (once again) on target. I don't think they mean it this way but Fox News must be delighted since it's an in house kind of feud and will increase viewership.
(The other question: nooooooooooooooo I'm not in my 60s and Rivera has had a long career but he really didn't come to is national prominence until the 70s).

Joe,
This is actually quite typical of 19th century American journalism. The sort of detached "objective" reporting epitomized by the likes of Edward Murrow was a relic of the early to mid-20th century. For most of American history, the press was bitterly personal and adversarial - toward itself. Read H. L. Mencken for example (despite is anti-Semitism, he was a hell of a reporter), or just about anything from the Civil War era. The largest newspaper west of St. Louis in the late 1860s was called the Lexington (MO) Caucasian. You can imagine the politics were not tame. Or check out the newspaper rantings of Parson William Brownlow's Knoxville Whig against fellow Unionist and East Tennessean Andrew Johnson. Brownlow regularly called Johnson a drunk, whore, liar, thief, thug, tyrant, you name it.

These kinds of Malkin-Rivera spats were the norm in the 19th century and they helped sell newspapers. They surely help today too.

Geraldo Rivera vs. Michelle Malkin....is it too much to hope for that they will simply cancel each other out in an explosion of rage and all that will be left is a vaguely bad smelling smoke?

When I was at the Medill School of Journalism, he was young, up and coming investigative reporter.

Not sure whether that's something to brag about Joe. Imean, how old does that mean you are? 65?

Malkin did defend the WW2 Japanese-American internment, and a # of other silly ideas- far too many than I could keep count of. It's like trying to try Dr. Goebbels for each individual murder he committed and asking for a detailed analysis of each act of sadism.
