Why not insert a morals clause into the oath they take to uphold the Constitution? Any violators get a one-way ticket on the Siberian express! 8)

Now politics couldn't be involved, could it?
1) David Vitter is involved in a similar tawdry situation, has his Jimmy Swaggart moment and is forgiven. But, if Vitter resins a Democratic governor would appoint his replacement.
2) Larry Craig has a "sexual indiscretion" and many Republicans call for his resignation. I wonder what party the governor of Idaho belongs to?

Why not censure both and strip committee assignments for a certain period?

I am seriously trying to get over my talk radio fetish (because it makes me really dislike the far right), but did listen to a few minutes of Hannity's show yesterday. Of course, predictably, the "Clinton did it too" came up as Joe states here. One caller blamed Craig's misadventure with the law on "liberalization of our values"- intimating that the mens room underworld is somehow a liberal phenomena. Guess no one had anonymous gay encounters in the 50's. lol.

I hope Joe writes a Craig story every day so that the titles can provide me with a daily chuckle.

Admit it Joe, you just run these posts so you can use all those cute titles. The next one could be "Craig's reputation in the toilet, while <strike>gay</strike> happy Democrats watch another Republican go down the drain."

The complaint that:

<blockquote>He accused the mainstream media of hypocrisy — playing the gay card against a conservative while at other times defending gays. </blockquote>
completely misses the point, of course. It's not the sex it's the hypocrisy that's the problem. Being gay by itself doesn't really matter, it's being a closet Gay while pretending that you feel disdain for homosexuality and working to limit the rights of homosexuals.

Again, I personally think that Barney Frank has it right, his sexual promiscuity needn't be a factor in how he does his job, which is what matters. Hell, Kennedy has made drunk driving almost a hobby, something a whole lot more dangerous to others than cheating on your wife, and he's still there. Oh I understand why this is being done, the hypocrisy is very distasteful, and to Idaho Republicans, probably being Gay is also distasteful, so he needs to be driven out to assure that the seat stays GOP in '08, but that's a political consideration, electability and capacity need not be the same thing, as we all know.
