No Sense Of Humor About Voter IDs
A couple of days ago a piece of mine ran in The Philadelphia Inquirer. It was a satirical one that looked at new voter ID laws from a personal vanity perspective. A fair number of people emailed me about it — almost all of them angry Obama-haters.
It’s hard to be funny these days when the subject has any sort of political edge.
Here’s a link to my Inquirer piece: http://www.philly.com/philly/opinion/20120514_The_sum_of_our_driver_rsquo_s_licenses.html

I think your piece is hilarious, but some people have no sense of humor when it comes to politics.
Perhaps if you include the phrase “Warning, Satire Ahead.” as the first sentence, a portion of them (those that recognize what satire is) will refrain from emailing you. Unfortunately, you will just have to put up with those emails from the rest.
It could be worse, you could be under a fatwa by right wing religious leaders.
MS, we should all be allowed to submit our own approved license photos, as long as they have a passing resemblance to our present state.
And, I agree with Ohio, there are too many people out there without a sense of humor. They should be forced to sit through a few episodes of Benny Hill.
I support photo voter ID, but I thought the piece was funny too. To expand on dduck’s Benny Hill idea I would support all campaign ads being required to play Yakety Sax in the background.

Maybe they should also include a “Warning! The following ad is not necessarily a true representation of all the facts.” label.
Hi All,
The editor at The Inquirer cut out of my piece what I thought was its best idea. I said that states requiring people to have photo IDs like drivers license to vote should hire professional photographers to take the pictures. That would make us all feel at least a litter better about casting ballots in an election when the choices don’t make hardly anyone feel good.
