An Internet hub with domestic and international news, analysis, original reporting, and popular features from the left, center, indies, centrists, moderates, and right
To me, a true center sphere would mean the bulk of contributors would fall on a 0-100 left-to-right gauge between 35 and 65 on most every issue…….because to me, the swing voter is the quintessential “moderate”……and that’s how those people fall.
Using rough-justice math to gauge the more prevalent voices at TMV, I would guess TMV comes in at around 30-35…….simply as an average, but certainly not as a boundary.
Donkelephant probably falls a bit left of TMV (at least based on a quick review of comments under their “Social Programs” archive).
Pete Abel unfortunately doesn’t have the headcount yet to measure.
What does this mean?…….is the blogosphere likely to be more populated overall by liberals rather than conservatives?……I think that is generally true (think of stereotypical demographics and types of employment…….and which ones are more likely to use (or find time for) the internet for such “conversation”. Also, Iraq has created its own gauge…….witness Ron Paul……..without the Iraq issue, which person here “left of center” would find his domestic and fiscal policy even remotely palatable……..yet with Iraq, the left proclaims “why aren’t all Republicans like Ron Paul?” Said differently, until Iraq falls from the daily lexicon, there really is a very negligible turf for a “center” position to occupy……..what, “withdraw, but at some unspecified later date”……lol!
I think you personally give it a good college try, Joe. I just think the times don’t really allow you to achieve it yet.
