The Texas Rangers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 30-3 tonight. It’s the first time since 1897 that a Major League team scored 30 runs in a game. I occasionally have strange dreams where I’m watching a baseball game with scores like this. But this one’s for real. The Rangers scored 10 runs in the 8th inning and 6 runs in the 9th. Two bumbling, overpaid bottom-feeder teams make it to the record book with a bizarre feat.
I thought it was a typo when I first saw it on Yahoo…I mean, this gives “running up the score” a whole new meaning.
@doxy
Running up the score indeed. I’m impressed that the game wasn’t called on a pity rule. Back when I played a lot of video games, I remember almost all baseball games would the game if you got up by ten runs. I guess the MLB doesn’t have the same rules.
