Tons of water are needed at the input end, and the output end is a big problem that without enough regulation pollutes rivers, prone to leaks in the pools they use and causes problems like air pollution and road damage when countless trucks haul it back and forth.

I distrust fracking on many levels and believe there needs to be complete transparency on the process but blasting the tops off of mountains and dumping the remains in valleys regardless of the water pollution is completely irresponsible, IMO.

That said, it would be nice to have graduated transitions, especially when NG has its own pollution issues. Let’s not rush (oh, wait it’s campaign season) to throw the thousands upon thousands of people from the coal industry under the bus. Allow conversion of some older plants to cleaner outputs and don’t create energy policy by fiat.
