Since the Illinois Straw Poll results are now in with the results being MittWit 40%, Freddy 20%, Paul 19%, Rude-y 12%, and everyone else under 5%, maybe this article ought to be revisited again…

And, of course it goes without saying, that any serious political analyst that thinks the $45 ticket-to-vote Iowa Straw Poll should be taken seriously won’t be taken seriously on anything else he has to say.

National Journal, huh? That organization has questionable creds for reading into the minds of Republican voters anyway.

Before Huckabee is crowned VP, perhaps one should look at where his Iowa Support came from.

The reason that Huckabee did so well is because Neil Boortz and the FairTax cult had a strong showing. Haven’t you seen the way that Huckabee panders to the FairTax crowd? He can’t stop gushing over it every chance he gets during the debates. He fawns over the FairTax Proposal like it is the best thing to come along since sliced bread.

Notice how they didn’t ask for Ron Paul’s opinion on the FairTax or taxation during the recent ABC Debate. It probably comes down to the fact that Paul doesn’t think we should be arguing about what brutal “alternative” we could use instead of an income tax. He has been quoted as saying he wants to get rid of the income tax and replace it with…. nothing. Not a FairTax nor any other tax or State enabler.

How is it NON-Candidate Fred Thompson is able to bypass registering to run as a qualified candidate, not paying any fees, to get the exposure he is in polls, and articles such as yours? Is this constitutional? It’s certainly not fair to those who do things by law. This is how NON-Candidate Fred Thompson has lost my consideration as a candidate. He’s not doing things the American way. He’s a THREAT to honest politics and takes on an Orwellian shade thanks to Main Stream Medias promoting him gratis.

I can only hope that Giuliani is unelectable. I agree, Thompson’s waited way too long, it just looks like arrogance now. “Oh, this whole *election* process is beneath me. Debate? Be forced to live up to the claims of my supposed charm? Pshaw.”

The analysis is indeed intriguing and interesting, but omits a critical element in discussing timing:

It is my view that Romney and Giuliani are unelectable and McCain is toast. Mind you that I also think that Thompson is unelectable, but it may well be that Republicans will have to turn to him sooner or later as the best horse in this race.
