I’ve written about this a couple of times – this desire by some on both the right and left for another 9/11.

Different reasons, obviously. But the fact that the next big hit we take will probably involve some kind of WMD makes these people’s wishes ludicrous.

Thinking more about it, Bykofsky’s column is so crazy that it might be more of a personal cry for helpm than trying to make any serious political point. After all, what shall we make of this:
“What kind of a sick bastard would write such a thing?”
Yes, indeed, maybe what we see here is a man struggling for sanity against the imaginary demons that surround him.

Shaun, you noticed that the guy “had gone through some personal travails”, and I guess you still have some connections at the Daily News. Is there anybody there caring about Bykofsky if this turns out to be an issue that requires medical assistance? Or is this one of those hard-nosed communities where people watch and shrug their shoulders while their collegue jumps out of the window?
