I find it ironic that a gay man without children is so dismissive of school violence or sexual assaults. Do you think that if Chelsea Clinton, Vanessa Kerry, or Sarah Gore had been assaulted by six black males at their schools, that their parents would have been saying” It’s not so bad. At least, there were no life-threatening injuries.” Of course, there were probably not six black males at Sidwell Friends, Cathedral, or Andover, so I guess the point is moot.

I find such arguments insulting and idiotic. No one’s child should be assaulted by a gang of young males while as school and to dismiss it as a schoolyard fight insults the intelligence of all readers. So teacher or other school employee should ever be assault by a students. Violent students have no place in school and no one’s child should have to suffer the fate of being beaten in school because some activist thinks it is a good idea.

Of course, the Democratic Party who wants to base school admissions, government hiring, and government contract award on the race of the individual it probably the last group that is going to get blue collar and middle whites to have a better opinion of blacks and Hispanics. Until the Democratic Party and its activist can get past the point of screaming racist at everyone who disagrees with them, they have no credibility on the issue. As long as racist like Cynthia McKinney or Barbara Lee are part of the Democratic Party, there will be no “screwdriver.”

Of course, the best screwdriver would be for the government to treat all people the same and to actually comply with the constitution. However, the social engineers that dominate the Democratic Party will never let that happen.

Bravo SD – You take this and attack two groups, blacks and gays. David Duke would be proud of you. You dismiss the history of Jena to push your Klanish agenda. Well you neglect that those “nice white kids” strung nooses in Jena to taunt those “black gangsta”.
    Jena
    http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/20070717_two_races_two_systems_of_justice_in_louisiana/

This story begins in the small central Louisiana town of Jena. Last September, a black high school student requested the school’s permission to sit beneath a broad, leafy tree in the hot schoolyard. Until then, only white students sat there.

The next morning, three nooses were hanging from the tree. The black students responded en masse. Justin Purvis, the kid who first sat under the tree, told filmmaker Jacquie Soohen: “They [other black students] said, ‘Y’all want to go stand under the tree?’ We said, ‘Yeah.’ They said, ‘If you go, I’ll go. If you go, I’ll go.’ One person went, the next person went, everybody else just went.”

Lets not forget Texas where white kids burn down houses and brutalize a retarded black man and juries give the short sentences or probation. Yet a black girl goes to jail for a year for shoving a hall monitor.

I guess white girsl and male teens are just – “Just boys being boys” .

    Rudi,

Maybe if you went to real media sources instead of reading the repeated memes of liberal activist hate sites you would get a different view. See http://www.thejenatimes.net/pages/news_page.html.

Hanging nooses in a tree is not a crime but the students who did it were suspected. And many witnesses to the beating of the white student were used in the trial to prove that it was a criminal assualt and not just a schoolyard fight.

You should also look up local media sources for Shaquanda Cotton http://theparisnews.com/story.lasso?ewcd=7d468720360700cc

I still find it odd that a gay liberal activist who does not have any children, let alone children in public schools would call middle class and blue collar people racist because they want to look out for the children.

I also dismiss as racist the stupid claim that it is OK for blacks to murder/assault/beat whites when the white insults them or use racist terms. As long as organizationslike truthdig.com support such beliefs race relations in the U.S. will not improve.

  4. Rudi says:

Sd – Just as long as you put things in context. The noose incident started the ball rolling. Burning crosses and a noose have very strong symbolism in this country. To ignore the “tree” and “noose” ignores the history of Jim Crow. What about Texas and Billy Ray Johnson?
As long as organizationslike truthdig.com support such beliefs race relations in the U.S. will not improve.
As long as you and others ignore noose in trees and “Just boys being boys” doesn’t help either. That doesn’t ignore the facts that clowns like Sharpton fuel the fire, but tell the whole story to put everything in context. For the Cotton case, how does a simple assault merit 1 year while arson merits probation. People die(firefighters, neighbors) as the collateral results of arson.

  5. superdestroyer says:

Rudi, You need to look at the Paris Texas case. The student assaulted a school employee under a zero tolerance law. If a juvenille is convicted in Texas of a felony, they are turned over to the juvenille authority and the authority makes the decision on release. Ms. Cotton could have avoid jail by pleading guilt and takinng probation. However, Ms. Cotton’s mother is a loca agitator and activist who used her daughter to make a political point. The jury and prosecutor struck back.

What I find odd are new reporters trying to write stories about school incident in rural southern school without having any background to understand. Everyone in the south has stories about the black part of the cafeteria and the white part. The same probably goes for classes, sports, and extra-cirricular activities.

I had a friend who moved from Pa. to Anniston, Alabama. He talked about not understanding that in rural southern schools that things like marchng band would be for the white students but pep squad would be for the black students.

  6. Rudi says:

SD – Zero tolerance doesn’t explain the arson sentence. Did you actually read the whole “gay post”? BTW eight years ago I spent weeks in Anniston at the Tank Depot. While I found some of the old Southern racism, I found more tolerance there than Pa and Michigan. The “gay poster” says racism isn’t just a Southern thing. Macomb County is just as “redneck”, maybe more so, than Anniston.

  7. domajot says:

    Thank you, SD.

You demonstrated the need for builing a screwdriver better than a hundred rallies in support of the idea.
Actually it makes me look at a hammer fondly, again, as well.

  8. Rudi says:

domajot – I’d say a sledgehammer instead of a hammer. It always easy to be a “white male victim”.

  9. GreenDreams says:

Yes, blacks are victims of deep culturally created prejudice, and we do need a screwdriver. As disturbing as this case is, it is more disturbing to me that research continually underscores our bias, yet many, like SD, believe we can be ‘color blind’ and just let it all sort itself out. It isn’t working.

  10. superdestroyer says:

And what would that screwdriver be. The U.S. has had busing for 40 years. How has that worked out? The U.S. has been using separate and unequal admission standards for college admissions since the 1970′s. Has that improved the situation? The U.S. has had minority set aside contracting since the 1970′s. Has that improved economic conditions in Detoirt, Newark, South Central? The U.S. has had Black History Month for decades. Has that really helped

Has any government social engineering program really worked? The government has used the screwdriver of separate and unequal for decades. Do you think that when the President puts out a Kwansa holiday message or promotes any other separate and unequal program that it makes whites students more or less likely to want to have a “white” tree or middle class white to spend more money to move into white neighborhoods or send their kids to all white private schools?

  11. GreenDreams says:

Honestly, SD, I’m not sure what will be effective. But one strategy has proven effective in the Harvard test (did you take it?) Showing films of capable, articulate and empassioned black leaders like ML King just before the test helps, and likewise with respected women in leadership positions, whether diplomatic or corporate. I’m not suggesting government-mandated positive images of blacks or women. But I am suggesting that with the proven existence of strong and continuing bias in many areas of American society, we still need “separate and unequal” programs to help deal with race and gender bias issues.

  12. Rudi says:

SD The set asides have helped some minority owners in Detroit. But white flight before and after 1967 has been a larger reason for Detroit’s decline. The bureaucracy and corruption are issues with the minority leadership, but the older suburbs on Detroit’s border are now falling apart, and most of there population is white. The issue is more complex than black and white, but your lily white ass get preferences over those urban gangstas. Besides W is an example of “separate and unequal admission standards for college admissions “(legacy). I doubt if W’s or Kerry’s SAT/ACT were even close to Obama’s, so stop the set aside argument. Many qualified middle class whites and blacks were stepped over when those two were admitted to their Ivy League schools.

  13. superdestroyer says:

    Rudi,

Thank you for confirming the stereotype than the only way the left knows how to deal with race is to call the right racist and tell them to shut and and endure the social engineering.

The Washington Post has reported more than once tha a black male with an SAT of 1000 has a much greater chance of attending college than a white male with the same SAT score.

Remember Jennifer Gratz? The Supreme Court ruled that the State of Michigan violated her civil rights because he she had been black they would have admitted her to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor but since she was right, the State of Michigan stated UM-Dearborn was good enough for a white girl who attend public schools and came from a blue collar family.

At least Texas has a diversity program that does not give the blacks at Paris High School better odds of getting into college that the white students.

Of course, if you want race relations to improve in the U.S., screaming racism as been shown for decades to not work.

How about demanding that all of the members of the DNC send their children to minority-majority public schools to improve the learning environment. If the elite will not do it with their children, they need to shut up about others.

  14. Rudi says:

SD – You didn’t address the set asides for both Kerry and Bush. Jennifer Gratz was the posterchild for attacking AA. Maybe her other qualifications were lacking(leadership, class rank). Poor Ann Coulter wasn’t kept out.

  15. superdestroyer says:

Kerry and Bush were admitted to Yale over 40 years ago and before the schools became as competative as they are today. The real question is how all four of Al Gore’s kids ended up at Harvard when they school turned down asian-american middle class kids with 1600 on the SAT. Even Al Gore III got in and he was kicked out of St Albans.

The problem with Jennifer Gratz is that her parents were blue collar and she attended a blue collar public school without AP/IB classes. However, in your world, you want to lump the blue collar white kids in with the rich whites and the upper middle class Asian kids while lumping Jesse jackson’s grandkids and Barack Obama’s kids in the AA category.

The real quesiton is how does it improve race relations in blue collar rural LA, TX, etc by giving the black kids at the school an easier time to get into college than the white kids at the same school. Remember, the southern states still have state supported HBCU that benefit the black kids without similar schools for the poor white kids.

  16. domajot says:

    SD-

You blithely skitp over a basic reality. A poor white kid faces fewer barriers in the marketplace than a poor black kid, particularly a black male. Equal opportunity is not equal if skin color is a negative factor for only one race; the scales are tipped from the outset.

I would also hope that you bother to understand what the symbolism of a screwdriver is here. It is a recognition that as conditions change, new strategies (screwdriver) need to be created to address racism and racial inequality to replace old methods (hammer).
As the screwdriver is still on the production line, you’re getting all fired up over a total unknown.
Something tells me, though, that no screwdriver would suit you. When you deny there is a disease, no cure will be good enough.
