"Is the Grand Old Party cracking up?"

Only if Huckabee is making good on his threat. If it would be the other way around, with an extreme right winger becoming candidate, Bloomberg on an independent ticket might even have a slim chance at pulling a Lieberman...

I suspect the White House will have to stay in Democratic hands for 12 or even 16 years for the GOP to truly reform itself.

12-16 years of Democratic power in the executive as well as often in Congress? Will there be anything American remaining in America? [tm] And you thought the wreckage prior to 1980 was bad...

It’s one big reason I support Hillary; she’ll stimulate a long-needed revival on the Right.

We can certainly hope so. I have hoped she would be elected as early as possible for another reason, namely what adults (conservatives) do: not only defer gratification, but refuse to postpone the unpleasant, even harmful. Hillary Clinton, President (officially, this time)? Come on -- let's get it over with; the sooner it's past, the better!

In short: Yes, and thank God it's finally come. Now the Republicans can start rebuilding their party.

Since 8 years of the Clintons didn't do it, I suspect the White House will have to stay in Democratic hands for 12 or even 16 years for the GOP to truly reform itself.

It's one big reason I support Hillary; she'll stimulate a long-needed revival on the Right. Mabye they'll even improve to the point where I'd consider voting for them.

Bloomberg is a viable candidate because of deep pockets. Huckabbe could be the Rights comic version of Nader. Ralphie says both parties are from the same mold. Will Nader still run for POTUS when nurses change his diapers in the dementia ward of his nursing home?
