Well, to be fair, cjj et al, Obama is a Muslim communist, while Dubya is a cowboy Evangelical you’d want to have a beer with. (Personally, I’d rather drink beer with someone who, um, drinks beer, but hey, each to his own!)

Good point, cjjack. Dubya called Putin his friend and knew he could trust him after looking into his eyes. He also said it was time to put the Cold War in the past and work together as friends.

Funny isn’t it?

Just a few short years ago the President of the United States was palling around with his dear friend “Vlad the Russian” and nobody on the right wing – not even Michael “did I mention my dad was Ronald?” Reagan seemed to have much of a problem with it.

Remember that? There was even a famous photo of “Vlad the Russian” in a white pick up truck having a grand old time with the President. Presumably they went on to a day of clearing brush on the ranch.

Nobody on the right (to the best of my knowledge) accused Bush of “kowtowing” to Putin, or accused Putin of being “our enemy and the enemy of freedom,” and I’m also fairly certain nobody framed their cordial meeting in terms of the now long-dead Cold War.

This is not the US vs “the Soviet Bloc.” The Soviet Bloc has not existed for a generation. There are Americans in college today that have no memory of the Soviet Union…it ceased to exist before they were born.

In another post I commented on the neocons folly in regards to Iraq. What Ronnie JR fails to address is the upcoming election. A POTUS Romney would treat the Russians completely different than Obamama. Nothing can really get done till after the 2012 elections. I hope the Romney camp doesn’t do a Nixon Paris talks on this one.

Reagan would be proud of his adopted and seldom-seen son; he managed to avoid mentioning his father until the sixth paragraph, a new record. Imagine a Michael Reagan autobiography; the title would have to be something like The Life and Times of Ronald Reagan.

Snarky little stepson isn't he. I'm sure his daddy said many things behind the scenes (as all presidents do) that little Mikey wasn't privy to. "Barack Obama believes the United States is the evil empire." Comments like that put him squarely into tin hat, kool-aid country. Get a real job Mikey.
