If Thompson does make it into the general election I think that any Democrat won't have much trouble painting him as just more of the same from the Republican party. Does he really have any stands on any policies that are different from Bush?

Chris- I didn't forget- but Gore's campaign should have revealed his true ID.

He ran for an office as himself- an elitist frat boy from Connecticut who had failed at some business ventures in the 80's, and lost badly. With the help of Rove, Gonzales and others he reinvented himself to run for Governor.

Kim,
Don't forget that Bush won in 2000 and 2004 based on his image as being an average guy that was a tough warrior. This is despite having been born into a very wealthy family and being a draft-dodger. His only street cred in 2000 was having bought a ranch in late 1999 and in 2004 he ran on having been in office when 9/11 happened.

I actually think Fred of all the frontrunners would be the easiest to defeat. He'll have to overcome organizational difficulties, the woes of having policies that resemble Bush's too closely, and getting a very slow and late start. He also has a history as a highly paid lobbyist and trial lawyer, which don't help the red pickup outsider image. The worst thing is that you have to wonder how many of those who support Fred are really thinking of Arthur Branch, instead of the real thing?

I think Fred needs less "law and order" so he can answer the questions asked of him. After watching him in Houston, I also think he needs to apologize.

Watch and ask yourself if he is really fit to be the President... he is just more of the same of what we have already.... we need a change! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvMWGNX7HlI

see for yourself...

for fun checkout Ron Paul, he answers his questions with honesty...

and no I am not some spambot, just an average person... 44 in rural America.. not even in the tech industry... self-employeed with a small business... a typical GOPer
