I have but one question. What the hell is wrong with East Texas, and Western Lousiana? The people there seem to be stuck in 1960’s thinking with the overt racist stuff they pull, not to mention the lynchings that happen ever few years.

Let me get this straight… the only importance of this example of institutional racism is that Democrats can use it to score political points?
This is not an issue that is left or right, for either side it should be disgusting and both sides should work to do something about it. Why don’t the Republicans step up to the plate and do something to try and solve this endemic racism? They are capable of doing such, but they consistently, as I see it, ignore any such problems because white supremacists are worth more percentage points to them at the polls than African Americans. So instead of Dems gaining political points, why do Republicans insist on ignoring this issue, declaring racism nonexistent, and losing political points?

It’s flukey and freaky, and — it gives a Dem after 2008 in the White House the ability to score political points with a pardon or mere “commutation of sentence” far better than Bush’s of Libby.
