So those who said Bush has a messianic complex are correct- he believes he is carrying out the will of the Lord. That is exactly what makes him so dangerous.

jdledell- I agree that Snow, Kristol and other administration allies (a much smaller group now) are using the media to try to spin the Bush presidency into a great success- much as they sold the country on the necessity of invading Iraq in ’03. But I don’t think anyone’s really buying it beyond the 26%.

Well Snow’s editorial along with Kristol’s editorial, the Patraeus/Crocker videoconference with Congress and Bush’s meetings with right wing pundits are all part of a game plan to push back against the momentum that will sweep us out of Iraq quicker than the administration would like.

What does “Support Congress” even mean? Its 535 people, some of which I like some of which I don’t. I guess if you mean do I think congress is a bunch of corrupt shills that do the bidding of the highest bidder I might be able to have an opinion.

But that being said Tony Snow is a paid liar, and he earns every penny he makes.

In reference to Kristol’s assessment:

It’s interesting that the same metrics somehow never apply to the Clinton administration.

After the WTC attack in ’93 there were no further attacks on US soil (until the Bush administration) and Clinton caught and locked up the actual perpetrators in his time.

The economy was really going great guns and only sacked out under Bush.

And that war-thingy in the Balkans was a successful example of US leadership and military planning which only lacked support from the Republicans in Congress who demanded timelines and strict accountability throughout the campaign.

But you know – black is white, up is down, Clinton was a horrible president, Bush is the Greatest President Ever! and we’ve turned yet another corner to win The War on Terror ™.

Congress’ poll numbers are low because they haven’t been able to stop Bush. The 70% that opposes the war can’t understand how someone who only has a 26% approval rating can be running our foreign policy into the ground and refusing to deal with a realistic appraisal of his war effort.

The problem with this coming election is that Ron Paul just might become the Next President.

The antiwar does not realize one thing. When push comes to shove they are really only about 26 percent of the country. Just like Bush’s cronies are only about 26 percent of the country.

The other 48 percent will be the ones that determine what, when, why, where and how the USA moves forward in 2008.
