The Iranian populace, a new poll has revealed, is a heck of a lot more moderate than their government. Take, for example, the fact that 80% of Iranians favor an end to the nuclear program in exchange for international aid.

Shhh…. it makes it harder to start a war with Iran if you make them out to be real human beings.
As such, I demand you claim that every Iranian is a terrorist or at least funds terrorism.

This is good news but hardly new news. Unfortunately, Iran’s moderates, being moderate, seem unlikely to dislodge the dictatorship of the Mullahs.
The greatest danger on both sides is that crackpot extremists who hold power will get a war going that neither most Iranians nor most Americans want or need.

And the best way to reverse their moderation toward the US is to make threatening noises toward them.
They are very nationalistic.
Unfortunately the moderates have absolutely no influence in what the Iranian government does. The generation that worshipped Khomeini and gave him the kind of Islamic state that he wanted guaranteed that.
