Hamas Claims to Have Freed BBC’s Alan Johnston

I’ll believe it when I see him!

BBC’s Johnston ‘released in Gaza’

The BBC’s Gaza correspondent Alan Johnston is freed from kidnappers after almost four months in captivity.

UPDATE: Apparently he was briefly seen. Now that Hamas has freed Johnston from captivity by the Doghmush clan, let’s see Hamas free Johnston and send him over the border into Israel or Egypt.

I hope they will Holly in a hope to appear to be a legitimate government. Not that I’d trust them to walk my dog, but if it frees Mr Johnston then great!

This is a crude and vain attempt by Hamas to try to show who is in charge. To show up Fatah and Abbas in an effort to play to their “BASE”.

They are fighting for their political lives which is not worth much anyway but new elections could well end their political lives and they will be back to being simply terrorists.

Another thing I believe. The average everyday Palestinian person who was not even around when Israel supposedly took their lands just wants to lead a decent and fair life.

I believe the only thing standing in the way of that right now is HAMAS. With the leader in Israel obviously willing to make concession after concession the only true obstacle to peace for the Palestinians is HAMAS.

The quicker the Palestinians learn this the quicker they just might end up with a country and a life. The international community would love to spend money in Palestine to make them a home, a nation and a life.

They just have to want it for themselves. As in Iraq. We can lead them to water but if they don’t want to drink I guess we can Waterboard them huh???

  6. I’m not particularly interested in waterboarding anyone.

We can all agree about the nature of groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.
It would be wise to learn from their successes however.

Hamas and Hezbollah succeed because they succeed at PR. One released jjournalist is more effective than a hundred rockets.

If they are to be defeated, they have to be outsmarted at their own game.

  8. Doma: they are only successful because the Western media let them be successful. They don’t question it, no the BBC is even pimping Haniyeh right now.

    Exactly my point.
No one can order the media to stop falling for it, not any more than anyone can tell FOX news to stop airing Limbaugh.

So, you have to think of ways to play to the media.
    Aooearances. PR.
    Seduction rather than bullying.

Pointing out who to blame is not nearly enough.
You have to make others want to blame the same guy.

I read some excellent comments on a “left’ leaning blog site,, CALMLY and reasonably pointing out the PROBABILITY that this was a made-for-the-media event.

I only wish the tone of those comments could be the prototype for afvocay on all issues.
