Yeah, I love the fiscally responsible Republicans wasting $7 million on a meaningless exercise in Missouri to hold a meaningless primary then holding a caucus a month later.

  2. DORIAN DE WIND, Military Affairs Columnist says:

From what I see so far, while not many delegates may be at stake, it is turning out to be a very important night for Santorum, as he wins Missouri, Minnesota and presently is tied with Romney in Colorado.

It just may change the character and direction of the GOP primaries

Added: The big loser may turn out to be Newt Gingrich

  3. SteveK says:

The idea that reasonable people disagree is nothing new to any of us.

BUT the idea that Republicans in the states of Minnesota and Missouri chose Rick Santorum to be their candidate is beyond the beyond.

Are all those Republicans voters insane or do they really think that that idiot can ‘bring them home’ and ‘save their souls’?

This is one of the saddest things (politically) I’ve seen in 65 years… Thank god I’m an old man.

  4. PATRICK EDABURN, Assistant Editor says:

As I noted in another post, a win for Rick over Newt is a win for Mitt.

As to the results, low turnouts produce these kind of results.

  5. DORIAN DE WIND, Military Affairs Columnist says:

I am not at all for Santorum; I despise Gingrich and I feel Romney is the best of the worse.

But a win is a win

Interesting piece, “The High Stakes in Minnesota, Colorado and Missouri” @ http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/02/07/the-high-stakes-in-minnesota-colorado-and-missouri/

  7. Jim Satterfield says:

According to the Kansas City news Santorum won by huge numbers in the rural areas. For example, in Cass County, which is just south of the KC Metro he beat Romney 63% to 22%.

  8. ShannonLeee says:

Cass County… a place we should all avoid.

As I have stated before, MO and KS are full of religious fanatics and the Klan.

It is no surprise at all that Santorum did well in MO.

I think our editor knew what was coming and tried to get this post out before Santorum crushed his fav candidate.
