And lastly, two quotes of the day: one at Booker Rising and one at Andrew Sullivan’s The Daily Dish.
Newton was religious?
Newton pursued alchemy. This has a spiritual/mystical side as well as a scientific side in that it entails inquiry into the nature of nature.
His knowledge of ancient Hebrew texts was put to use in developing his theories of the mystical part of alchemy. That’s not being religious in the ordinary sense we use the word today. Scouring religious texts for ‘deliberately’ hidden meanings can easily lead to going off course in the same manner as astrology veers off from astronomy.
In short, Newton went bonkers before his death.
I’d be more concerned with important stories right now, such as Hamastan in Gaza, the world’s rush to assist Abbas and Fatah, and Carter’s claiming now that our refusal to accept Hamas when it was elected by pro-terrorist fools in the Territories was a “criminal” act by the USA. I like one story line: “Jimmy Carter Disturbed by Negative Reaction to Hamas Coup” — Is Carter crazy?
