Large Number Of White House Emails Missing

So let’s get down to the bottom line in the case of the missing emails. Either:

–The Bush White House is TERRIBLY misunderstood and it’s all the Democrats and the mainstream media, working in conjunction as they rub their palms with glee in a political vendetta to smear the stalwart White House’s image.

or

–The Bush White House is TERRIBLY incompentent

or

–The Bush White House is showing the kind of respect for the law that a wife beater shows for a bleeding, battered spouse.

We link, you decide. The AP:

Email records are missing for 51 of the 88 White House officials who had electronic message accounts with the Republican National Committee, the House Oversight Committee said Monday.

It’s either pure coincidence or intentional. Those who say it’s coincidence could be defenders of the administration at any cost. And those who say it’s intentional could be shrill Democrats or Republican RINOS. MORE:

The Bush administration may have committed “extensive” violations of a law requiring that certain records be preserved, said the committee’s Democratic chairman, adding that the panel will deepen its probe into the use of political email accounts.

The Democrat could be just saying it to try and “get” the Bush White House. Or he could be saying it now because the Democrats finally have a bigger megaphone now that they control both houses of Congress (although it’s clear that control does not mean dominance.).

The committee’s interim report said the number of White House officials who had RNC email accounts, and the number of messages they sent and received, were more extensive than previously realized.

The administration has said that about 50 White House officials had RNC email accounts during Bush’s presidency. But the House committee found at least 88.

The contradiction could mean the White House was lying. But it could mean just an honest mistake or something not really earth shattering. AND:

The RNC has preserved emails from some of the heaviest users, including 140,216 messages sent or received by Mr. Bush’s top political adviser in the White House, Karl Rove. However, “the RNC has preserved no emails for 51 officials,” said the interim report, issued by committee chairman Henry Waxman (D., Calif.).

The 51 include Ken Mehlman, a former White House political director who reportedly used his RNC account frequently, the report said.

Republicans said there is no evidence that the law was violated or that the missing emails were of a government rather than political nature.

Of course. It is strictly coincidential.

The records act requires presidents to assure that “the activities, deliberations, decisions, and policies that reflect the performance” of their duties are “adequately documented .. and maintained,” the report said.

White House press secretary Tony Snow told reporters he would not “respond specifically” to the committee’s findings but said the RNC email accounts “were designed precisely to avoid Hatch Act violations that prohibit the use of government assets for certain political activities.” He added, “the RNC has had an email preservation policy for White House staffers.”

Congressional Democrats are investigating whether White House officials used RNC email accounts to conduct overtly political, and perhaps improper, activities such as planning which U.S. prosecutors to fire and preparing partisan briefings for employees in federal agencies.

Mr. Waxman’s committee is contacting numerous federal agencies to determine whether their records “contain some of the White House emails that have been destroyed by the RNC,” the report said.

In a statement, Mr. Waxman said the panel’s findings “should be a matter of grave concern for anyone who values open government.” He said the committee will investigate “who knew about the violations of the Presidential Records Act, why they did not act earlier, and what emails can be salvaged from RNC, White House, and agency computer systems.”

But Waxman is a Democrat. And so all of what he says must be discounted.

Can’t you SEE the coincidences in this — how it all is a political vendetta?

Good.

Then you realize most of THIS can’t be believed.

And, oh, by the way.

Don’t forget that next Easter a nice furry bunny will sneak into your house and hide lots of colorful eggs in your home…

It’s a sad state of affairs when I can’t be shocked by this White House anymore.

  2. RevDave says:

of course they are lying, this administration has no respect for law unless it protects them – start at the top, he is dear leader.

  3. Rambie says:

Joe, I wonder where are all the Bush supporters are. I would have thought they’d have their talking-points from Sean or Rush by now… or did those emails get lost too.

    (snark)

No wonder no one is defending the WH. Even the rats are jumping ship on the SS Bush-tanic.

Republican candidates begin snubbing Bush The decline, according to some Republican strategists, has flashed a green light for lawmakers on Capitol Hill and presidential candidates to put distance between themselves and an unpopular president — a politically essential maneuver for the 2008 general election that remained risky as long as Bush retained the sympathies of Republican stalwarts.

Good thing Republicans are above political maneuvering just to get elected.

I like this ending from The Gun Toting Liberal article on this same issue.

For you Right Wing Bloggers: You can either choose to condemn the Bush Administration and the RNC for blatantly attempting to cover up their actions, try to defend them, or remain silent as you so far have. You can label this all as one big partisan witch hunt but just imagine, for one second, that these actions weren’t those of Bush or the RNC but instead those of a Democratic president and the DNC. Is your response different this time? Maybe you should start to wonder why.

The rule of law is not partisan; I’d expect the party that prides itself as the “Law and Order” party to live up to it’s name and police it’s own.

How can they just get away with this bullshit? There is a specific law against this very sort of method of coverup. Is it really as easy as just playing dumb? I don’t know, I don’t recall, I wasn’t personally in on that decision so don’t blame me, yada yada yada.

How blatant does this administration have to get before people start getting sent to jail? Oh wait….
