I'm pretty much with you Shaun. Here's hoping the theory of pre-emptive war has finally been debunked for good.

I am seriously anti-war except under the most dire circumstances.

Vietnam and Grenada did not qualify. Bosnia-Yugoslavia and the first Gulf War did. I was duped into believing that the second Gulf War did. Boy was I wrong.

A serious question Shaun. Are you really anti-war? Or anti-this war?

Somebody:

I get tired of trotting out my bona fides, but I am a Vietnam veteran who initially support the Iraq war but am now resolutely antiwar. Maybe I'm a stereotype buster, but I stand by what I said and absolutely agree with what Taibii said.

So Shaun let me get this straight.

You are calling yourself a cowering, ineffectual ninnies ever assembled under one banner on God’s green earth

While I include the Cindy Sheehans of this world as part of the antiwar I also put you front and center in it by your own admission.

I hardly would classify you as an Incompetent Ninnie. In fact because someone wrote an article claiming the antiwar is this that or the other does not make it so.

If the antiwar is so incompetent then why was the Republicans voted out of office?

No....Nice try but you way underestimate the power of the antiwar in this country.

It would be quite ironic for the US to signal it's distaste for an irresponsible nation having nuclear weapons by..

Take a look at the following :

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/viewpoints/stories/DN-geyer_31edi.ART.State.Edition1.4370227.html

The money quote:

"Friends of his from Texas were shocked recently to find him nearly wild-eyed, thumping himself on the chest three times while he repeated "I am the president!" He also made it clear he was setting Iraq up so his successor could not get out of "our country's destiny."

What better way to tie the next President's hands than to start a war with Iran and possibly Syria. The whole Mideast will blow sky high and make it almost impossible for the US to withdraw without leaving Saudia Arabia and Israel vulnerable. If he starts this war with 6-9 months to go in his administration impeachment is no longer really viable. Any sort of casus belli can be the trigger for Bush to unilaterally order the start of military action. At this point, Bush is so far gone that all that is left to him is proving his righteousness and his legacy. To Hell with the Republican party and American soldiers.

Somebody:

Your blame is misplaced. Matt Taibbi wrote recently of the antiwar movement:

"No matter what it claims for a self-image, in reality it's the saddest collection of cowering, ineffectual ninnies ever assembled under one banner on God's green earth."

And he's absolutely right. Give credit where it's due:

George Bush gutted his own ability to do anything short of wiping his own sorry ass, not Mother Sheehan and the antiwar dingbats.

Ya remember Kissinger and Nixon. Good Cop. Bad Cop act with North Vietnam.

Sounds like the same thing going on here.

Personally I think if Bush attacks a fly with a flyswatter right now that the congress would impeach him and he knows this.

The antiwar has gutted his ability to do anything but Bluster and make noise in attempts at making Iran think its going to be attacked.
